The Problem

You just converted a file from Adobe XD or Sketch to Figma using our converter and now your text elements aren't showing up or look completely different?

Usually, this is easy to fix and only a matter of installing missing fonts.

Here's an example of what you might be seeing in your converted file:

Original XD file:

Adobe XD design before conversion

Converted Figma file:

After importing your converted Figma file, Figma checks if the fonts used in your file are installed locally on your computer. If any text element contains a font that is not installed on your system, Figma will display a yellow warning “A?” icon in the top right corner.

If the yellow "A?" isn't appearing in the top right corner and you're still not seeing all text elements, then simply click on the element that isn't being properly displayed.

This will display the missing font in the text details area in the right-hand panel.

Installing the missing fonts

In order to make the text elements appear, make sure all fonts used in the design file are installed on your computer.

Figma Desktop App:

If you're opening the Figma file in the Figma Desktop app, it will automatically detect all fonts that you have locally installed on your computer. To fix the display issues simply install the missing font files and you should immediately see all missing text elements.

Figma Browser:

If you're opening the Figma file in the browser, then installing the Figma Font helper is necessary in order to access any local fonts from within your browser.

Follow these steps to install Figma font helper:

Open in the browser.

Step 1: Click on your profile name at the top left.

Step 2: Choose the Settings tab from the right side.

Step 3: Scroll down to the Fonts section and click on "Download installer to enable local fonts."

Step 4: Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 5: Restart the browser and verify, Fonts section will show "Local fonts are enabled."
