Elements with 3D rotation aren't being properly converted

Your Adobe XD file contained elements that were 3D rotated and they didn't convert as expected?

Written by Kevin Goedecke

The 3D rotation in Adobe XD helps you to add dimension to your design objects. By rotating an object along a horizontal/vertical axis, you can mimic 3D effects that will bring considerable depth and perspective to all your designs.

Here's an example of how you can use 3D rotation in Adobe XD:

You can specify how many degrees around the X and Y axis you want to rotate an object and it will make it appear like its been rotated in a 3D world.

The Problem

You converted your files to Sketch or Figma and the 3D rotation wasn't applied or the element is missing entirely?

This is because as of now, Sketch and Figma don't support rotating objects in 3D at all. What our converter does in that case is, it falls back to either the unrotated object or in some cases it doesn't display the object it at all.

Possible Solutions?

Sadly there currently is no possible solution since Sketch and Figma don't support this feature at all.

As you can see in the following screenshot its not even possible to apply a 2D transformation to a group object in Sketch.

Fingers crossed that Sketch and Figma will also add a neat feature like that in the future 🤞

Users have already asked for it and chances are they are going to add this soon.

An other interesting Sketch plugin to check out is this one: https://github.com/sureskumar/sketch-isometric
