You finally have the Figma or Sketch file converted to XD. You're excited to see what the converted file looks like, but your Adobe XD file just won't open. It's stuck on a blank white screen with a blue loading bar. There could be a few reasons why.
You don't have enough computer memory (RAM)
Design tools can be demanding on your computer hardware. For example, when opening files in Adobe XD, the tool temporarily stores data in your computers RAM. When working with very large design files the load on your RAM can increase significantly. Adobe XD does that in order to allow you to work on files without loading anything while the file is open.
When you have an XD file stuck at launching, it's probably because there's not a lot of RAM available or your computer does not have enough RAM. Adobe recommends at least 4GB of RAM but we recommend at least 8 or even 16GB to run all Adobe apps smoothly.
What can you do about it?
You can close XD and try to open the file again.
Close other applications that are consuming a lot of RAM (Google Chrome, other Adobe Applications)
Send the file to someone else to also try opening it. This will tell whether it's an issue with your computer or not.
If you want to find out what other applications are consuming a lot of RAM, you can open the "Activity Monitor" on MacOS:
On Windows you can open the "Task Manager" to get a similar overview:
What if I still can't get it to open?
We can help you split the file into smaller chunks so your computer can handle. Contact support if the file takes more than 5 - 10 minutes to open. Start a conversation by clicking the chat bubble at the bottom right or send us an email with your file at firstname.lastname@example.org
